Bravi Andrea’s Tuscan red bean is a legume cultivated and dried in Garfagnana and bordering areas; it is the best bean of the Lucca’ s plain and of all the territories of the province. There are proofs about the cultivation of this bean since 1700.
The Tuscan red bean has a varied intensity red colour with stripes that change from red-purple to the blackish colour, like a Borlotto bean; it is rich of macro nutrients like phosphorus, iron, potassium and also micronutrients like calcium and vitamins A, B and C.
This bean, with an intense scent and flavour and an extreme soft solidity, is ideal for main courses of the Lucca’s tradition as spelt soup, soup at the “frantoiana”, pasta, beans and special “beans in thewicker wine bottle” ( “Faglioli al Fiasco” ).
